Craft Corner: Pacifier Clips

Hey Anthrofriends!
Do you ever wonder what to do with all the extra buttons that you LOVE from say, your favorite LiaMolly sweaters?
Behold: My Glassflower Cardi, bought here, with its awesome buttons. They're wrapped with the thread around the edge, and then bejewelled with glassy beads in the center. Amazing. And totally wasted, sitting around in my sewing kit.
Plus, sometimes I just have this NEED to do something, to create something. Other than this blog, that is. And it would be nice if the product were easy and usable.
Do you, too? Well, here you go.
Seen in action, here:
With my fashionable friend, Kat.

 Obligatory close-up of the button:
So, I had bought Avery a pacifier clip at Target to keep her pacifiers from falling onto the floor or worse. With this button, though, I made my own.
And a few more to give to friends. But mostly to me, being that I am my own best friend.

Super easy to do:
1.Pick out your button and ribbon.
2. Cut ribbon to about 6 inches or less and create a buttonhole.
3. Use Fraycheck (I used Singer brand) on edges of the ribbon and on buttonhole.
4. Sew button on inner edge, about 2 inches from edge of buttonhole.
5. Stitch other end of ribbon around loop of the clip. I used the dangler clips from Joanne's, about 20 in a pack, made from nickel (neither Chris or I have allergies to nickel).

She loves the striped one the best, apparently.

Easy 10 minute project. Less cleaning up and freaking out about germs in baby's mouth.

Anthrokids, Ye Olde Original, But for REAL

I misnamed the previous Anthrokids post. This is ACTUALLY the Anthrokids post.
SO stinkin' adorable. It's a cuteness overload. I'm overwhelmed with the cuddly, fuzzy, baby-bunny-rabbit, wriggly-puppy preciousness of it all.

Top 5 Cutest Kid Items:

1. Captivating Cluster Dress, $88. Anything with felt applique flowers on the perfect color combo of pink, red and oatmeal. Notice the complete lack of dried boogers and smeared peanut butter all over. Just a few artfully placed lollipops. Even the kid seems perfect.

2. Monkey Business Coat, $98. LiaMolly does this great thing where they have of lining, textured cuffs, and amazing sweatered fabrics. This coat is so cozy and perfect for autumn. I love the changing-Vermont-leaves-in-fall shades.

3. Honey Loving Hat, $38. SO fun to have your kid wear animal heads on their head. A little creepy, but what ISN'T cute on a chunky-cheeked 9 month old? Especially if they have a clean snot-free nose and are not screaming bloody murder.

4. Bud Vase Hoodie, $78. Perfect combo of cute and sturdy. Playful and practical. Good for parks, zoos, cozy diners, playgroup, even the occasional party.

5. Mr. Fox Sweater, $78. Ah, if Scooter had stayed a boy, this is the kind of adorable boy playwear I would have forced on him (now, her). How irresistible is ANY hoodie with ears and slanted pockets? It was just inevitable.

Anyone else L-O-V-E the kidswear? And find it both extraordinarily cute? and a bit expensive? Um, just like the rest of Anthro? Which is why we love/stalk it?

Anthro-style for kids

Has anyone else checked out the online kid's clothing store, Matilda Jane? My friends, Lily and Viv introduced me to the site, this past weekend.

It's infant and girl's clothing, which is beautifully designed and photographed (with a recent contest between 45 photographers, all using the same dress--see below "I see the Moon" photography).

I can't get over how cute their items are. Very boho chic and pretty much priced like Anthropologie.

Sigh. If only they had weekly sales, too!

I sense Scooter and I are going to need to start budgeting.
