Halloween is my favorite non-national, dress-up holiday of the year (St. Paddy's a distant second--that leprechaun outfit gets a little dingy).
I have always spent the day with or without costume, hanging out with friends, gorging on chocolate. First, because it's Halloween, but mostly because it's my birthday.
This year, since I have Avery to dress up against her will, I started scouting out costumes early. She had a few back-ups that we tried out (bunny rabbit, dragon, Minnie Mouse) and we actually still HAVE assorted costumes in our possession. Just in case Yoda wasn't going to be adorable. Which, of course, it was.
'Course, I also had to get into it. Mismatched hair shades notwithstanding (yes, that's a braided bun headband, no, it's not from Anthro), we had a blast yesterday at our birthday/halloween bash in our backyard. Thirty of our friends celebrated with cake, In-n-Out Burgers, homefried potatoes, and lots and lots of candy.
Btw, I'm not the Star Wars geek (I hadn't even seen any of the movies in their entirety). Someone else is. Won't mention any names. But he's in the picture. Standing next to me. In gray. No, not Avery. And that's the only hint I'll give you.
We ended up watching Star Wars after the party clean-up, to make our costumes more meaningful. I guess Avery and I need to fully understand the responsibility of representing Leia and Yoda. The Force is not to be trifled with.
Neither is the birthday discount. I scoured my local Anthro for everything that I had on my wishlist, last week. Will show you guys what I got in a few days. After the chocolate coma has subsided.
Happy Halloween and may the you-know-what be with you...
OMG...that's the cutest Yoda I've ever seen! I'm a total Star Wars geek, like the guy in the gray shirt, btw.
