Hi dear pals.
You are probably wondering why I haven't been blogging lately, and then guessing that I've been swamped with work, baby, and generally, life (life including the online traffic school in addition to the $500 ticket, I have for driving 81 mph on my way to SF--Officer, I was going with traffic!).
You would be correct.
You would also be correct if you guessed that we went to Ohio for the 4th (man, you're uncanny!), and there was a joyous reunion between Nalynne's 2 kids and Avery.
Especially C, who adores her baby cousin. Avery (6 months today) had to tell her,"Shhh. Just go."
We spent time with family, playing dozens of rounds of Skip Bo. I trounced Chris' 86 year old Grandma the first few games, just to have her taunt me with some surprisingly unkind trash talk a few rounds later.
Nalynne channeled the Pioneer Woman's hominess and frugality in her Starbucks Avoidant Iced Coffee.
OOTD:
Urban Outfitters Tank
Anthro Puella skirt
Anthro Lemon Stick Wedges, see pinterest link here.
Love my new Lemon Stick Wedges, which came in the mail last week. Comfy. Casual, yet bright. Just high enough without going Lady Gaga on you.
Note to self 1: Have hubby photog me from lower steps as to make me look much much taller.
Note to self 2: Remember to remove hands from pockets once in a while. Although I do love me some pockets.
Note to self 3: Try not to wallow in self-pity, as homes in Mid-West seem unnecessarily large and gracious, people quite friendly and sincere. Does not help that Nalynne had a huge trampoline in backyard. Cue childlike giggles and snorts of glee as Chris and I leapt, bounced, wheeled to our hearts' content.
Dream come true...then, nightmare began as I realized I had to eventually go home to my trampoline-less hovel. Oh, Ohio. Well, at least in Southern California, I have 8 Anthros within 35 miles. Not that I have been to any of them lately (see first paragraph).
Ah well. Happy belated 4th, everyone.

OOTD Deep Pockets
Funny how good friends can inform our wardrobes. Abbey, had this Puella tunic first. She loved it and wore it around Nalynne, who bought it and wore it around me. And when Nalynne and I went to Anthro (4 times in a week), I found the tunic, too.
It's comfy, machine-washable, and yet fashionable. And pairs perfectly with my favorite jacket and boots.
OOTD:
Irene's Story Gray Flannel Jacket
Anthro Puella Navy Tunic, buy on ebay here
Anthro tights
Franco Sarto Boots
Oh, if only I had deep pockets in every aspect of my life.

Our Sartorialist Winner! and some OOTD
Thank you to all who entered our little giveaway, and a hearty post-turkey congratulations to Maureen, our triumphant winner!
So glad to share one of my favorite books with you, Maureen!
Also, a big shout-out particularly to Lori, Angela, Kate and Jadan--your comments cracked me up.
And of course, Dea of DeaDiaries, whom I have been commenting/blog buddies with for months (which is like forever, since blog years are like dog years).
Oh, and I'm so glad and flattered to have goldenmeans on board, since I really enjoy her prolific blog as well!
Anyway, I found it all so fun and in the spirit of Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for all of you and for all the blessings in my life. Especially living a life filled with joy and hope and beauty.
Speaking of beauty, Nalynne (my lovely and talented SIL) and I went to the local Anthro in Columbus, OH (IO!) today and had such a great time. Here is the gorgeous outfit N was wearing which attracted some spontaneous compliments from other fashionistas on the streets of Easton mall! Whoohoo!!
What she's wearing:
Anthro Lia Molly's Coin Purse Cardi
Anthro Raccoon Rumpus Top
Anthro Maryam Tank, see here $58
Anthro Three Beacons Belt, see here, $34
Timberland Boots, similar here for about 160, Timberland Boot company Lucille boot buy here, Anthro's version here called Mount Lafayette boots, both about 300 bucks
Here is ournanny manny, hard at work in the housewares section at Columbus' Easton Anthro with Nalynne's 2 girls.
I am so grateful to him for being such a great hubby, uncle and (dun dun DUN!) soon-to-be dad. Yikesies.
Happy post-Thanksgiving to us all!

Outfits of the Day--Go LAKERS!
Sigh. Nalynne has such wonderful fashion sense. Meaning she wears Anthro almost everyday. Not that the two are mutually exclusive. Just sometimes causative.
On our trip to Big Mama Anthro (Santa Monica), she was wearing
Yellow Minas Tank, Anthro buy here, $88
Navy Splendid Cardigan, Anthro circa 2009
Snakebite belt, Anthro, buy here, $32.
Anthro Leggings, circa 2009
Seychelle's Hullabaloo in yellow, buy here, $100 on their website.
I love this outfit. Every component is so fun and easily swappable into multiple outfits. Her Seychelle's, especially I've been eyeing for days. They're elegant, yet fun, and yellow goes with everything.
Especially since the Lakers are going to win tonight.
Yup, I just slipped that in.

Nalynne and I go to the Mothership
It was inevitable. For Nalynne's long-awaited visit this week, we had to go to the Santa Monica mondo-mama store, on the lovely 3rd Street Promenade.

Oh, for a soft place to fall...
It's the infamous 27 pillows!!
About a month ago, I showed a few of Nalynne's (SIL) adorable housewares. To reiterate, she has phenomenal taste and a love for Anthro items big and small.
Well, here are some of the pillows of notoriety, referred to in that comment section.
Nalynne had this to say,"most of these pillow were scored for $30 or under and the lion cookie jar...just makes me feel like a domestic goddess even if it IS empty." Ha!!

papparazo
We spent the weekend with family and friends. Chris (hubby) is from Michigan, and so we flew back there for a few days. I'm blown away by how beautiful and green it was--and how good-natured and friendly the people of the midwest are.
On day 3, Nalynne wore this great grey Anthro top--the name of which escapes both of us. I tried to find it last night in the last 4 catalogs, but to no avail.
I do know she's wearing a Moth sweater though, which I have and love in grey in another post.
Michael, Chris' brother, was kind enough to let me borrow his fancy camera to imitate a "real" photographer. 'Course, that means that the pictures of me (by Chris) taking a picture of her are with my little iphone--which, don't look all that bad, right?
Maybe I should have brushed my hair that day. Whoopsies.

Nalynne: Anthro top, grey
Moth sweater, '09
her own Jeans
Me: Lucky Penny purse, Anthro, '09
Leather Jacket, I love S and K
Daughter of Liberation grey pants

nalynne at thanksgiving

we were in ohio for faux-thanksgiving, an event that occured this year because i was working on the holiday weekend. so we trooped over to nalynne's house and had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and all manner of comfort food.
we lazed around and watched movies, strolled through the neighborhood fall folliage, and played skip-bo with grandma. then, the golden moment--nalynne proudly marched me through all her new anthro items in her closet.
as a professional graphic designer, nalynne is artsier and much more creative than me. she buys things that are appear either outrageous or uninspired on the rack, but look fabulous in person. she's just like, oh look--here's an amazing outfit, waiting to happen. observe.
nalynne

so much style. so much anthro. she always looks awesome.
we went to anthro during her stay here, and that plaid top was calling to her. she had to go back the very next day when she realized that she couldn't live without it.
completely understand.
